Twitter, the microblogging service beloved by geeks, celebrities and politicians, is a fantastic communication platform, in which users send messages of 140 characters or less ruminating on the things that interest them. It provides a fascinating real-time insight into the hot topics of the day, and has played a key role in many recent breaking news stories, such as the Mumbai terrorist attacks and Hudson plane crash, where eyewitnesses provided a rolling account of events through Twitter.

Facebook has been targeted by malicious hackers seeking to steal valuable data from members.

The social network site has been hit by five separate security problems in the last seven days, say security experts.

By creating fake messages padded with details of Facebook members the thieves are capitalising on the trust and social links that drive the network.

Security firms warn that the popularity of social networking sites makes them a tempting target for hi-tech thieves.

Google has launched a new feature that allows users to edit, delete, and comment on search results and share them with other users.

The new tool, called SearchWiki, is now available worldwide in all of Google’s English-language search services.

It allows users to rate and comment on search results, and see how others have rated theirs, adding a social networking dimension to the services provided by Google.

Wide Screen YouTube
“What’s the latest that you notice with Youtube as of late?”
this was the question a fellow blogger asked me over Yahoo Messenger chat. To satisfy my curiousity, I hastely check YouTube and this is what I found out: A widescreen YouTube player.

Yes you read it right. Youtube has gone widescreen in preparation  of hosting more professional content. There are reports that Youtube is going to start cutting deals with content producers–the Hollywood types in which it will soon start offering feature films. Having a widescreen player makes a lot of sense for feature films.
