Software giant Microsoft Corp. has offered to buy Yahoo Inc. for $44.6 billion, in a bold bid to transform two ailing Internet businesses into a worthy competitor for market leader Google Inc.

But the question is can the both really co-exist if ever the deal would push through. Both companies have too many overlapping businesses — from instant messaging to email and advertising, as well as news, travel and finance sites — and both are weak in the Web search market, where Google Inc. dominates.

So what do you think? What will happen if Microsoft buys Yahoo?
Personally, they still have a lot of work to do to overtake Google because of the aforementioned overlapping businesses.
